RESULTS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE “BILLION TREES” NATIONAL MOVEMENT

BUGANT NANDIN LLC HAS COMMITTED TO PLANTING 100 MILLION TREES AND IS IMPLEMENTING ITS COMMITMENT

As part of Mongolia’s “Billion Trees” National Movement, Selenge Province announced its commitment to become a major supplier of tree seedlings and planting materials. As one of the companies implementing this commitment, Bugant Nandin LLC has been actively developing its tree nursery and reforestation activities.

Bugant Nandin LLC, based in Bugant Village, Eröö Soum, Selenge Province, operates a tree nursery and is also engaged in forest restoration, reforestation, forest maintenance and cleaning activities.

Currently, the company operates a 12-hectare tree nursery, where approximately 8 million seedlings of 13 tree species have been cultivated, including pine, larch, bird cherry, elm, apricot, maple, cedar and yellow acacia. One- to three-year-old seedlings have been prepared for reforestation projects.

The company provides employment for more than 70 engineers, foresters and forestry specialists working in tree nursery and reforestation activities. The implementation rate of the current work has reached 100%, under the leadership of O. Altantsetseg, a State Honored Engineer of Mongolia.

Going forward, Bugant Nandin LLC plans to establish winter greenhouses in order to shorten the growing period of seedlings and produce seedlings that normally require two years of cultivation within one year.

The company also emphasizes that protecting planted trees is as important as planting them, and that strong cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential to ensure their long-term survival.

Through cooperation with the National Center for Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Korea, Mongolia Office, Bugant Nandin LLC has started implementing a contractual program to plant 100 million trees according to the approved plan.

There are currently 15 enterprises operating in the field of tree nursery production in Selenge Province.

As part of its reforestation activities, Bugant Nandin LLC selected designated areas based on coordinates provided by the Selenge Provincial Department of Environment and Tourism. The company has carried out reforestation at SULD Park in Dundgovi Province, as well as on technically rehabilitated land in the Tolgoit area of Bag 3, Bugant Village, Eröö Soum, Selenge Province.

The company has also carried out reforestation activities in Maidryn Davaa, Khodoodny Urd Ar, Shavartyn Ekh and 15 Am areas of Bag 3, Bugant Village, as well as in Södtei and Nariin Khondii areas of Eröö Soum, Selenge Province.

As part of these activities, approximately 2.1 million broadleaf and coniferous trees have been planted across approximately 840 hectares, with the work currently reaching 70% completion.
